Are There Any Good iPhone Cases?
I’m on my third iPhone case in less than a year. I’m still not sure if I even like this one a lot. Time will tell. My first one was the Griffin Elan Form case. It’s a hard plastic shell with a soft, black, leather-ish outer shell. It’s soft to the touch but still solid protection if dropped. I had the same type of case for the iPod Touch I used to have and loved it. But on the Touch it was slightly different – the case was a snap together and covered more of the front of the device. …
Approaching Location Checkin Overload! (Updated)
I’m sure I haven’t even touched close to half of the actual location-based or checkin-based games/apps/whatever that are out there. And I’m starting to get overloaded. Currently I’m a regular on Foursquare and have started playing around with Miso and MyTown. Foursquare is fine. It has become my default. But it also has competitors (mainly Gowalla and Britekite – neither of which I’ve touched at all). Foursquare just seems to be the most widely used at this point. So why bother with the smaller ones when barely anyone around here is even using the biggest one? Miso is basically Foursquare …
Sharing Some Gym Stats
I’ve been trying to be consistent about my workouts at the gym. That includes knowing what weight I’ve been lifting, how many reps, and which machines I regularly use. So far I’ve been tracking all of this with iFitness (iTunes link) on my phone (started some time mid-March). I think it works OK. Not exactly what I’d like out of it – but from what I saw of some of the other apps, this fits most of my needs the best. Eventually I’m sure I’ll find something different, but I just don’t feel like looking yet. So far, if my …
Best iPhone Battery Pack for the Money
UPDATE (11/23/10): Unfortunately it looks like Monoprice no longer offers the super cheap and super awesome chargers. My apologies to those of you coming here for a good recommendation. If I come across an option that is just as cheap and awesome, I’ll be sure to update again. Sorry! When I bought the iPhone, I really didn’t care too much about not having a replaceable battery. “When would I ever need to replace it?” I thought. Little did I know I’d have to fly to CA a few times traveling for as much as 12 hours in a single day. …
The Art of the eBay, I Has It
I’ve been on eBay for what feels like an eternity… but what in reality is about 10 years. I’ve got a feedback rating of 315 – 100% positive. I don’t think I’ve ever had a negative feedback, ever. Though I think I may have had one neutral from some douche who didn’t know what he was doing – but that was a long time ago. I wouldn’t say I buy and sell a lot… but I know where to look when I want something or have something to get rid of. I’ve applied a lot of common sense and logic …
Travel Update Day 1: Airports Airports Airports
I was in four different airports today. Certainly more than I’ve ever been to in one day… and also two new ones that I’ve never been to previously. My flights went from Elmira to Philadelphia to Phoenix to Oakland. The latter two are new for me. And considering that I’ve never been west of Oklahoma City (and even that shouldn’t count considering the circumstances), this is a lot of “new” for me. Flight out of Elmira went well. Was basically on time. Even departing PHL was on time. I had heard they occasionally have problems with that. I was thankful …
How Many Passwords Do You Have?
According to 1Password on my iPhone, I have 70 different passwords. That’s for websites, work stuff, certain applications, etc. And I know for a fact that is not all of them. Those are just the ones that I remember to enter in. I’m actually pretty good about remembering my passwords. But it’s a PITA to have to do a “forgot password” thing for some website I haven’t logged into in 6 months or something. It is way easier to just look it up. And since I always have my phone on me, 1Password is a life saver. Luckily, I picked …
iPhone Games: Trenches is Hard
I haven’t really shopped for games a lot recently… been busy with so many other things that gaming on my iPhone has really taking sort of a backseat, or trunk position, if you will… In looking up travel apps the other day I thought I’d poke around a bit and see what else I could find. One of the top sellers I found is called Trenches. It’s kind of a WWII trench warfare game. You (the British) are on one side of the field and the Germans are on the other. You work up to various squads of fighters. Like …
