Debt & Credit
Probably a large percentage of posts on my site are about money and/or credit. Could be for many reasons… like that’s all I have to talk about or maybe it’s just one of the more important topics I feel like discussing? Either way, if you’ve been following along for the past few years, you’d know that I’ve been working on rebuilding my credit for a little over 4 years now. I don’t even know how [...]

Cars & Racing
I still can’t really say that I’ve made a decision on a new car. I’ve got a few thoughts about it, but just haven’t really finalized them into an actual answer. I suppose this is a good thing. I mean, I’m not rushing into a 20-some thousand dollar purchase… which seems like a good idea to not do. The one real variable so far though, is my current car. What to get on trade? I’m [...]

The Life of Me
If you rob Peter to pay Paul… but Peter’s interest rates are lower and his payment arrangement is more convenient, does that make it OK in the long run? This week my 401k loan check was deposited to my checking account (thanks to Jen since I am out of town). Within 2 or 3 days, the money is all gone already. $3400 to Toyota to pay off my car $1000 to Citibank to pay down [...]

The Life of Me
Two years ago this June I took a small loan out of my 401k to pay down some bills (like $1300 I think). It felt much easier to pay that back via my paycheck on a schedule I choose than to pay whatever bill it was (I forget what it went towards exactly). The payments I setup were only about $27 per paycheck (every 2 weeks). It seemed easier this way because that money would [...]

Debt & Credit
Checking my Credit Karma today like normal. Finally saw a couple changes… well a couple more that I haven’t seen in a while. My credit “score” went up 5 points. So that was nice. Using their simulator though, I don’t have a whole lot of hope for it going up much in quite a while. That could be a bit inaccurate though – there really is no way to know exactly how it will respond [...]

Debt & Credit
This has happened a lot… but figured it’s time again. The end of the year is approaching and more importantly a new year is approaching – which includes both tax refunds and Goalsharing bonus. What to do… what to do… I think part of that was decided today actually. I got a call from my collection agency. I think he was trying to say my current payment plan had expired (which is BS b/c I [...]

Debt & Credit Random Thoughts
Any of you watching TV in the last 5 years have no doubt seen all of the “free credit report” and “free credit score” commercials. Essentially offering PAID credit monitoring services with free access to your score or report. They really aren’t free… you’re just getting a “trial” of the monitoring service and then can access the report and score during the trial. If you do not cancel within a certain time frame, you get [...]

Debt & Credit Random Thoughts
My car insurance renewed today for 9/09-3/10. And to no real surprise to me, it has gone up again. Totally lost count how many times it has gone up in a row. It is absolutely retarded. And now that Jen and her car are on my policy it gives me a comparison for rate changes. Mine went up $31 for 6 months. Her’s went up $2 for the same period. Not to mention that the [...]

Debt & Credit
I’ve been watching my credit score for a while now on Credit Karma and it hasn’t changed a single point. I think I might be at somewhat of a ceiling with regards to that… Using their little simulator thing, even if I pay off almost all of my revolving debt, it still won’t have much of any effect on my score. Even if I pay everything properly for the next 6 months… still nothing. I [...]

Debt & Credit
I guess I’m going the wrong way with some of this debt stuff. I’m not 100% sure why… but I believe most of it is from various car needs (not necessarily parts). There was also a new digital camera involved – since BOTH batteries for my old one were bad and the camera is pretty old. No sense paying $50 for a battery when I can just get a new camera. Oh ya, and medical [...]
