Just Another Piece of the Apple
So there’s this iPad thing… I just bought one. I’ve been throwing around the idea since they came out. In my head it could just be another cool toy to occasionally play with but I’m hoping I can find more value in it than that. I knew I couldn’t just go buy one randomly and be like “wow, I have an iPad… now what?” I needed to at least make an attempt to justify it to myself. The best I could come up with is to use it to replace my laptop (currently a late 2007 Macbook). I really only …
My 32GB iPhone 4 is Preordered
Is yours?
I don’t remember having this much trouble last year when I bought my 3GS but this was certainly what I would label an “ordeal” … if there ever were such a thing.
It’s just a preorder, right? How bad could it be? That bad.
Best iPhone Battery Pack for the Money
UPDATE (11/23/10): Unfortunately it looks like Monoprice no longer offers the super cheap and super awesome chargers. My apologies to those of you coming here for a good recommendation. If I come across an option that is just as cheap and awesome, I’ll be sure to update again. Sorry! When I bought the iPhone, I really didn’t care too much about not having a replaceable battery. “When would I ever need to replace it?” I thought. Little did I know I’d have to fly to CA a few times traveling for as much as 12 hours in a single day. …
How Many Passwords Do You Have?
According to 1Password on my iPhone, I have 70 different passwords. That’s for websites, work stuff, certain applications, etc. And I know for a fact that is not all of them. Those are just the ones that I remember to enter in. I’m actually pretty good about remembering my passwords. But it’s a PITA to have to do a “forgot password” thing for some website I haven’t logged into in 6 months or something. It is way easier to just look it up. And since I always have my phone on me, 1Password is a life saver. Luckily, I picked …
iPhone Games: Trenches is Hard
I haven’t really shopped for games a lot recently… been busy with so many other things that gaming on my iPhone has really taking sort of a backseat, or trunk position, if you will… In looking up travel apps the other day I thought I’d poke around a bit and see what else I could find. One of the top sellers I found is called Trenches. It’s kind of a WWII trench warfare game. You (the British) are on one side of the field and the Germans are on the other. You work up to various squads of fighters. Like …
You Know What Traveling Means? iPhone Apps!
I get to play with a whole slew of new iPhone apps! Or at least try out a bunch of new ones. Not 100% sure what I’m going with yet… but considering I’ll be in a new area and will need to track expenses and such, there are plenty of opportunities for new apps. First few I’m looking at are these: TripCase – Trying to arrange my travel plans in a simple way. Includes flight info (gate, arrivals, etc), hotel, rental car, etc. Have all of my stuff entered into this – will get to test the flight stuff out …
DO NOT BUY: Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 3G/3GS Review
I just submitted a review for the Mophie Juice Pack Air on Amazon… since it is not visible yet (waiting for approval), I thought I’d copy/paste it here for people to read. Suffice it to say that I’m REALLY disappointed in this thing… especially for its price. Here’s my review… I’m going to be going on a long flight soon and wanted a little bit of extra life to my 3GS. Figured why not get that in a full case that I can turn on and off as needed? Great in theory… One MAJOR flaw though. You lose all kinds …
I’m Going, Going, Back, Back to Cali, Cali
Oh wait… not “back” to Cali… but I am going to California. The week of the 21st this month I will be going to California for work. It’ll be for the whole week to do some IT stuff at one of our new sites. Not incredibly fun or anything – but it should be interesting. I’ll fly out Sunday the 21st and come back Saturday the 27th. Also the first time I’ll be flying across the country – which I guess would be kind of obvious if I’ve never been to CA, right? To me, the trip is most of …
Damn You MacBook!
Just when I thought I got all of my computer problems straightened out… The “combo drive” (CDRW+DVDROM) in my Macbook decides to shit the bed. OK, so it’s not totally dead – but it makes some awful noises and decides to randomly spit out a disc it’s trying to read. Definitely a drive problem. Does the same thing in Windows. I wasn’t even able to play Starcraft that I installed on it. Just ejects my disc. eBay to the rescue though. $60 later and I have a replacement drive on the way. This time figured I’d go with a “superdrive” …
