The Life of Me

You Don’t Mess With a Guy’s Car

Ever. Despite the still-freezing-weather, I chose to have my summer tires mounted this past Friday. Fortunately when I bought the car, they were immediately removed (with only 5 miles) and put in storage. Now, they’re back on the car. Brand new tires for $0. Win. And because of my ridiculous paranoia, I made sure to look over my car before I took it in. I even took a quick photo of each wheel, since those were going to be handled by someone I didn’t quite trust yet. And I can assure you that all 4 of my wheels were spotless …

Left Hand Never Talks to the Right

There’s a disconnect somewhere and I’m not sure where it is. With Discover Card, that is. I got a phone call tonight from some girl at Discover asking me why I hadn’t activated the most recent card they had sent me. The answer, simply, was because I had shredded it. The long answer though, is because they continue to send me extra cards. I probably could not tell you how many cards they’ve sent me over the years… even if they’re not expired… and I didn’t ask for them, they’ll send me new ones. Obviously this is in the hope …

Funny, I Don’t FEEL Thirty

In case you didn’t know (which is likely, because I’m not one to go blabbing about it), I had a birthday this week. I’m now officially 30. It amuses me to hear of so many people that make a big deal out of a milestone like that. Sure, it’s a good, round number and all… but it doesn’t mean anything. Yay, I’m 30… BFD. Does it get me anything special? No. Does it mean I’m just another year older? Ya. The only negative about it for me has nothing to do with the age itself – but with plans that …

The Facebook Thing

Let’s make sure one thing is very clear… I do not like Facebook. But on occasion, it feels like it is a “necessary evil” for some things. Specifically when it comes to whoring websites that I may or may not be running. As was mentioned not too long ago, I started a new website for people to follow our engagement. And most of the whoring of that website has been done via Jen’s Facebook profile. While this is all well and good for many things, a) I probably shouldn’t be logging into her account and b) it actually started to …

Hmm, February, February… No, Not Ringing Any Bells

Did that just happen? February? I seem to recall something about it, but the details are fuzzy. Oh wait, that’s right… month in review, coming up! Very Strange Marketing Idea: A random email comes across suspicious. Turns out to be “marketing.” So It Happened Like This: Someone is getting married. Eventually. They’re All the Rage These Days: Infographic: Foursquare style. I Hate You and Your Jingle: Commercials… grr. You make me NOT want to buy your crap. Staying Social with New Friends and New Food: Foursquare + Foodspotting = I get out more. Parking 101: How Not to Suck: More …

Random Childhood Fact: I Spill Things

For one reason or another, I had a hard time pouring drinks when I was a kid. I can remember a constant problem with me spilling stuff. A lot. Problem was that if I were using paper cups or plastic cups or something similar, the lack of weight and stability would lead to me just knocking it over instead of filling it up. I’d try to pour some soda or something into it, but instead of the stream of soda hitting the bottom of the cup and filling it up, it would hit the opposite side of the cup and …

I’m Sorry Toyota, You’re Too Late

Toyota debuted the “FT-86 II” this week at the Geneva Motor Show. And I have to say, it looks good. Unfortunately, they’re WAY late, for me anyway. As anyone that has talked to me in the 6 months would know, I have my new car already. And sadly, the FT-86 wasn’t even part of the discussion. After rumor after rumor of delay, and no real news from Toyota on what was going on, I gave up waiting. Word so far is that it will go on sale some time next year. That tells me either they will begin production later …

Turn Signal = Fixed

Well, fixed for now anyway. Like I said before, I still suspect that it could be more than a bulb issue – but I’m willing to play along for now. It is very possible that is all the issue was, but based on some of the reading I mentioned in the other post (and the fact that there was essentially a TSB for it), I have some reservations. In any case, the problem is fixed for now. It didn’t cost me any money. And I had my car back in under an hour. Can’t really complain too much about that.

A Bit of Whoring is in Order

If you have not been following me on the twitter (why the fuck not?), I figure that this is another great place to whore a joint project that both Jen and I will be working on… It is: www.omgshesaidyes.com This will serve as a “project” blog that the two of us will post to with the intention of sharing many of our thoughts and ideas for engagement and a wedding. Of course, the wedding is pretty far down the road – but I’m sure we can come up with some random stuff to post about until then. A lot of …

First New Car Problem Identified

My turn signal is insane. Ok, not insane, but it has problems. Could be the bulb. Could be the wiring. Not sure yet. There’s a good article on ClubWRX about other 2011 owners having the same issue, as well as one on NASIOC (well, probably a bunch on NASIOC). The problem is this: 2011 WRX, the front, driver’s side bulb gives indications that it is bad. It blinks fast most of the time (but is fine some of the other time). The passenger side is fine. And I can tell that is the front/driver’s side because when you look at …
