There’s a disconnect somewhere and I’m not sure where it is. With Discover Card, that is. I got a phone call tonight from some girl at Discover asking me why I hadn’t activated the most recent card they had sent me. The answer, simply, was because I had shredded it. The long answer though, is because they continue to send me extra cards. I probably could not tell you how many cards they’ve sent me [...]

I like to pretend I know what I’m doing with regard to my credit and credit score. I’ve done a lot of research and have made a ridiculous amount of progress on improving things in the past few years. But even with all of this knowledge and experience, I still can’t decide if I want to close an account I just opened… I recently made a fairly large purchase, and had opened a new credit [...]

It didn’t occur to me until just a few minutes ago (literally) that my Citibank card is now below $3000. I honestly cannot remember the last time that that balance has been below that mark. At a minimum it has to be at least 5 years. Likely 6 or 7 years or more, as that was one of the first credit cards I’d ever signed up for. This may not sound like a huge deal… [...]

Probably a large percentage of posts on my site are about money and/or credit. Could be for many reasons… like that’s all I have to talk about or maybe it’s just one of the more important topics I feel like discussing? Either way, if you’ve been following along for the past few years, you’d know that I’ve been working on rebuilding my credit for a little over 4 years now. I don’t even know how [...]

Debt & Credit The Life of Me
Tomorrow will finish off this years 2009/2010 tax season for me. My NY state refund should be deposited tomorrow morning and that’ll be the last of my tax activity for this year. The “pending” transaction has actually been in my checking account for 3 or 4 days, so I know it’ll go through (not just guessing here). Thankfully I haven’t really budgeted that money for anything specific (only $110 anyway) so it’ll really just be [...]

Your return has been processed. A direct deposit of your refund is scheduled to be issued on (FEBRUARY 09, 2010). If your refund is not credited to your account within 15 days of this date, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Yay for my NY taxes being deposited next week. Will be able to get this tax season done and over with. Then I can look forward to my [...]

Checking my Credit Karma today like normal. Finally saw a couple changes… well a couple more that I haven’t seen in a while. My credit “score” went up 5 points. So that was nice. Using their simulator though, I don’t have a whole lot of hope for it going up much in quite a while. That could be a bit inaccurate though – there really is no way to know exactly how it will respond [...]

No, not the Queen song. Another “one” being another one of my credit accounts. I have scheduled my final payment of my Chase account. $400-something. Should deduct the day after my taxes are deposited. Can’t wait. That makes two big things taken off of my monthly budget so far… though the minimum payment for my Chase was only something like $20 anyway. So it doesn’t really make too much matter to my usable income – [...]

I’m working on the “more money” part. Eventually. Today I was able to schedule my final collections payment of $500. FINALLY. It has taken almost 4 years… and about $7000, but I’m officially done. And I now officially will have $250 more per month to pay other things. Specifically most of that will to my other credit cards. Even if I don’t use the full $250 to pay those down, I’ll be able to make [...]

Debt & Credit The Life of Me
I was just checking into some tax things this week. Ya, I know we’re not even through the first week of the new year – but I want my money ASAP! My student loan interest should be available a week from tomorrow. I should eventually receive interest/dividend notices from CCU and for my stock. Those don’t take look. Last year I waited the longest for my W2 from Corning. That arrived on the 23rd and [...]
