Shopping Pisses Me Off
Every year Jen and I go to my family’s reunion at the lake, we end up bumming plates/utensils from family to eat dinner. We just don’t own any sort of “picnic” supplies. I figured this year we would change that and finally bring our own stuff. A “picnic basket” if you will… Seems like one of those things that would be nice to have around. Apparently every store in the area has other ideas. We were hoping to find some decent plastic plates/bowls and possibly some plastic silverware (not disposable crap, just some reusable plasticware). This was not meant to …
Unlimited but… with Limits?
I’m no English major, but I’m pretty sure that the word “unlimited” has something to do with “not having any limits.” I don’t know why mobile phone companies can’t comprehend this. Or maybe it is simply marketing departments that don’t get it, I’m not sure. Either way, this is getting ridiculous. T-Mobile is the latest offender, offering a few “unlimited” things. Let’s look at a couple… How about an “unlimited” Family Plan with data, talk, and text for 2 lines. So unlimited data. Unlimited talk. And unlimited text, right? Not so much. With this “unlimited” plan, you get 2 GB …
Where’s My Shared Data Plan?
With the addition of a 4th line on my AT&T bill, I’ve started to really look at the data usage and how much I’m paying for it. With all 4 of these phones being iPhones, each one requires a data plan. And since we’re not heavy users and also not light data users, the 200mb plan is a bit too little… but the 2gb plan is a bit too much. Where’s my Goldilocks plan? It’s a shared data plan. And I want it now. And now, 4 iPhones, each on the 2gb plan, we’ll be paying $100/mo JUST in data, …
More Progressive Snapshot Follow Up
If you’ve been following along for the last few weeks, I’ve been reporting on my experiences with the Progressive Snapshot device and discount. I’ve already gotten my initial discount and am now still running both devices to determine my renewal discount. If you recall, the initial discount was 7% for me and 13% for Jen – which saved us about $15/mo (or $174 per year). After another 2-3 weeks our discounts are both going up! Jen is up to 16% discount and I’m up to double digits at 10%. At that rate, we would save about $20/mo (or about $230 …
More AT&T Shenanigans
I don’t know if there’s just a problem with my account or what… but AT&T is kind of pissing me off. I was in the area of an AT&T store today and after yesterday’s phone debacle, I figured it best to just stop by and order the phone in person. Can’t be that bad, right? Wrong. The girl helping me was very nice… I explained that the website wouldn’t let me add a line and buy a new phone. I kept getting that stupid error. I even tried this morning before I went to WGI for the day. Same problem …
Sometimes, I Really Hate AT&T
Trying to add an additional line to my account tonight… apparently AT&T doesn’t want my money. I (did) have the 550 family talk plan and was trying to add an additional line to that – apparently that is not possible as that plan has a 3 line limit (wtf?). I was getting a message that said there was a “Unidentified Problem” with my account. O rly? How do you know there’s a problem if you can’t identify it? Once I found out there was a 3 line limit on the 550 min plan, I changed my plan to the 700 …
Progressive’s Snapshot Initial Discount
So my initial discount period is over. I have my numbers. My discount? A measly 7%. But Jen’s discount? 13%. I have to say that I’m kind of disappointed by both of them. I was sure Jen would do great and get a good discount and kind of assumed mine would be a little less than hers, but not this much less. Of course it’s not all bad. I went from a $900 six month policy (2 cars, 2 drivers) to a $813 six month policy – which reduced my payment from $149/mo to $135/mo. This means that so far, …
We Spent Time Outside Today
Considering this was one of the first days that it hasn’t rained here in…. I really don’t know how long, we spent a bit of time outside and just enjoying the weather. Jen probably spent a bit more outside than I did – she had to “work” a little this morning and was able to do so outside. Meanwhile, I washed my car. It was pretty gross from all of the rain and crappy weather. Then we went to the lake. Her parents FINALLY got to put their boat in. With all of the rain, no one was putting any …
