Hide Foursquare from Timeline on Twitter.com

Third time’s the charm, right? I’ve posted 2 other articles on hiding foursquare checkins from your Twitter timeline (one using Tweetdeck on your computer, the 2nd using Echofon on your iPhone) and now I finally have one for your twitter.com timeline! This post will show you how to filter foursquare checkins directly on the twitter.com website! No new Twitter app required (though there are some other things required… as follows). Requirements: Only works with Firefox (3.0+) or Chrome (4.0+). If using Firefox – download Greasemonkey add-on. Got both of those squared away? Great. Time to get with the script. Head …

Another Celebrity Dead on Twitter

It is at least a little amusing how these things get started… but it is more amazing how long they keep going. Apparently some time yesterday, Jackie Chan died on Twitter. FYI, he’s not actually dead. Just on Twitter. This thing has been a trending topic now for at least two days… and he’s not even dead. So how in the hell is it still going? Because every moron and their sister continues to tweet that “RIP Jackie Chan isn’t real” or that “Jackie Chan isn’t dead!” or something like that. Point is… IF YOU KEEP TWEETING ABOUT IT, IT …

Easiest Way to Add Tweet and Like Buttons to WordPress

I had a bookmark for this great site that showed what was likely the simplest and easiest way to add the common “tweet” and “like” buttons to your website… I tried to get to it today and it is apparently gone. The site appears to have gone through a redesign with no sign of this previous post. And just so it shows that I’m not just some asshole trying to steal someone else’s awesome post, I want to give credit where it is due. I originally found this on RobbClarke.com (via a Google Search). Anyway… on to the goods… I’ve …

Betas, RCs, and New Apps! Oh My!

This week has included trying out a few new things in the “internet” space. Things I probably would have not bothered with were it not for a random whim to download each of them… For example… Firefox 4. I downloaded one of the beta versions late last week (or maybe it was over the weekend). Nothing really special sparked my interest to download – just saw it one of the days and figured I’d give it a try. I was actually a bit concerned about plugin compatibility – but since I was grabbing one of the later betas (12? 14? …

Hide Foursquare on Twitter on Your Phone (Take 2)

I’m doing a complete rewrite of this post as I found a better (cleaner) way to do this via an app. My initial post was using an app called Tweetcaster. It worked well enough and offered a free version, but there were some quirks with the filtering that made it a bit cumbersome. This way is MUCH easier. Step one: Acquire iPhone. Go download Echofon for Twitter (available in Free or Pro versions – difference is no ads in Pro). Once you have your account setup in Echofon, do the following: Click Menu in the upper left. Then Account Options …

Staying Social with New Places and New Food

If you haven’t figured out by now, I’m fairly social… OK, OK, I may not really be a “people person” … but I like to pretend I’m social on the internet. I use a lot of “social” apps (look to the right!) and I tend to be somewhat an early adopter as far as those things go. Foursquare is an obvious example of this… I started using it back in March of last year and was in well before their first million users (my ID is 597777). I use it every day to defend my existing mayorships and gain new …

They’re All the Rage These Days

Infographics. And with credit to both foursquare and About Foursquare for the ideas… I present to you, my crazy foursquare profile infographic: I’m no graphic artist, but I do like to toy around with Fireworks now and then… and this is what I’ve come up with. I don’t think I went into as much detail as the previous 2… but that’s OK, I probably had more fun in coming up with the design and details than I did in choosing what to use. I could do another one down the road with even more info and stuff crammed into it, …

No AirPrint Compatible Printer? No Problem.

The idea of AirPrint is great… print documents/photos/whatever from your iDevice (running OS 4.2+) to a printer wirelessly. Problem is that there are less than 20 compatible printers (at this moment)… all of them from HP. So what’s a guy to do if he doesn’t want to run out and buy a new printer? Well, when it was announced, I was hoping they’d be nice enough to include support for printers connected via Airport Express. I mean, it’s another Apple product… sharing a printer… wirelessly… I kind of though it made sense. Apparently the people at Apple did not, as …

Fallout: New Vegas is Awesome, Mostly

I loved Fallout 3. I have probably played through it 3 or 4 times completely. I also have all of the add-on packs for it. I occasionally had a couple issues while playing – usually just freezing of my PS3 though. The game was mostly stable. New Vegas on the other hand seems to have an issue or two still, even after an update for it already. So far I’ve found what appear to be two major bugs and have also had it freeze up on me twice. NOTE: Possible spoilers ahead. The first bug was when I was going …

SOLVED: Windows 7 Freezing When Idle

OK, so it’s not so much a “solution” to a problem – as it is just a sidestepping of the issue… but I bought a new video card. Problem gone. However that does lead me to two theories… a) The video card really was the issue and I have actually solved my problem. Or b) I still have no idea what the real problem is, but somehow the video card seems to be holding it off. I like to think it was the former… and considering what I’ve investigated and decided previously, I’m fine with saying it’s a video card …
