The Cars

A Challenger Appears

On 11/1/2010 I picked up my new ride. A 2011 Subaru WRX. Specifically, the Premium model, 5 door hatch/wagon in WR Blue Pearl. It had 5 miles on the ODO. It had 95 miles on it when I got home from taking delivery.

Plans are still in development, but I’m starting with a couple modifications already. Specifically I added the SPT short throw shifter, roof rack rails, and auto dimming mirror. A good start as they are all very useful options. Future plans may or may not include tint, summer wheels, tail light red-out… maybe some other stuff. Most things are still TBD…

The First Love

My first truly “new” car was a Silver Streak Mica, 2005 Scion tC that I bought way back in April of 2005. As of this writing, I’ve actually owned it for well over 5 years now – which makes it the longest that I’ve ever owned a car. And at just under 87k miles at trade-in, also the longest I’ve ever driven one car.

It has been quite good to me. Very few actual “issues” for it. Only two warranty claims that I can recall (a rear window seal that was replaced and a small hose that was part of the evap system). The engine still seems to be rock solid and thankfully the transmission has been very good to me as well.

Did I mention that I race it? Well, I race in the SCCA’s Solo program anyway. I guess I’ve put quite a bit of money into it as well… at least a lot for me. Sadly though, many of the parts are now long gone as the car is prepped for trade and returned to (mostly) stock.
