Where to start...
Quite simply, it was supposed to be a nice day visiting State College and spending some time together. It turned out to be something quite different.
I can't say with any certainty what happened (because I don't know for sure). My best guess is that I dozed off and lost control. Driving down route 15, just past Trout Run, I hit an inside (driver's side) guardrail going around a corner. I crossed back over to the right side of the road when I regained control and rolled to a stop... in shock. What the hell just happened?
Like I said, I really don't know. I wasn't feeling tired when I left the house but apparently I was. I've had some trips where I knew I was a bit drowsy, but this wasn't one of them... at least I didn't think so.
The damage is not awful - but significant. Mostly to the driver's front side and then some more down the rest of the driver's side. Front suspension is bad. Wasn't drivable. Airbags are still intact. Looks fixable to me... But that's not the big problem.
Now there are just too many questions... What happens to my insurance? Am I going to get my car back? How much is this ticket going to be (ya, the trooper just wanted to make my day that much better)? Am I still going to be able to get my new car? How will I get to work? Will I still get a rental from my insurance? I could go on but I've already been thinking about it all enough.
I submitted a claim to Progressive already today. But it said I probably wouldn't get a call back until the next business day. Figures...
*insert sad face*
But yes, we are ok, life goes on, blah blah blah.
Progressive called yesterday (Sunday). Car is being towed to one of their network shops in Williamsport for inspection/repair (we were that far away from home). Expect to hear later today or tomorrow about estimate/ETA. Got a rental today but kind of shafted by shitty local Enterprise selection. Will have to pay out of pocket ($10/day) for rental - long story.
