I put off joining Facebook for a long time, and when I finally did - in order to track down a missing friend - I was very parsimonious in the data I loaded onto the site.

I'm not there to "Share My World" with the entire population of Facebook, but to have a place where *I* can reach others.

I think it depends on how you approach joining Facebook. As such I'd say go ahead and join, just keep it at arms length.
