For some reason Thanksgiving isn't quite what it used to be.

I remember years when TG was a big deal. It was not unusual to have 15-20 people at my grandparents' house for dinner the entire day. The whole family would always end up at one house.

The last few years that's changed... a lot. Last year was the largest TG I think I've been to in probably 5 years and that was just at my aunt's with a few family and friends... maybe a dozen people or so. This year had to be one of the smallest in recent memory. Jen and I went to her parents for dinner - and it was just the four of us. Good meal and we just watched a little football afterwards. Nothing fancy.

I'm torn though... I like the calmness and quietness of a smaller event, but it doesn't feel like the big spectacle that the rest of the world would make it out to be. When you consider that many families travel across the country (or father) to be with other family... and also consider that Jen and I drove about 4 miles down the road - there's a big difference.

And don't get me started on this Black Friday crap. What a bunch of shit that is...
