Spammers never die. They adapt.

When they can no longer spam blog comments for their drugs and discounts and they can no longer spam the Myspaces with their crap... they have to go somewhere, right?

Yes, Twitter.

I've only been signed up for a couple of weeks and have already noticed an annoying amount of spam accounts "following" me. They're easy enough to identify - but annoying to have to block. You've all seen them - some randomly named account with maybe one single tweet of some URL pointing to who knows what.

And that's one of the scary things of Twitter, to be honest. Everyone is so worried about fitting in their 140 characters - the smaller and shorter the URL, the better. So more and more URL shortening services are popping up - and you Twitterers just blindly click most of the links to them. You could be clicking a link to a giant donkey anus... you don't know. But I digress...

I think I've removed a dozen or so spammers in the last week from following me there. Haven't clicked on anything from them - but don't need to. It is pretty obvious when their "bio" is also some random URL.

However, if you have tried to follow me (and I didn't recognize you, and you only have like 1 random tweet, and your account looks shady) and I blocked you, let me know and I can remedy it. Otherwise I'm going to keep blocking the stupid.

In the meantime, check out this awesome video I just found...
