OK... so this isn't really my first election... but the first one I will probably actually vote in.
When I was in college I tried to register for the 2000 election but they stupid girl wouldn't let me b/c she said I needed to pick a party affiliation. I didn't want to pick anything so I just skipped it all together. It was dumb. I didn't understand why it mattered. Ya, I know, I could have just picked "independent" or something and moved on - but that's not the point. I just want to register to vote for whoever I want to do the job. What does it matter what "party" I'm a part of?
As it turns out, I don't consider myself part of any "party" ... unless it is an alcoholic one. Then maybe...
So this year I actually registered as a democrat. I don't know if that's good or bad - frankly I don't care. I don't understand the parties and their systems enough to give a crap. Again, I really don't think it is even an important part of the process. How about you just let me show up and vote for the person that I want to vote for?
So who am I voting for this year? You'll just have to wait I guess... I'll try to post again later after my first successful voting excursion.
